WEEK 4

After doing moving image, the photo studio and branding, I am now back doing moving image. Only this time instead of creating a film for a brand already we had to create our own brand. This film had to be longer than Missguided at 45 seconds long. So we needed a lot more shots than last time. Firstly, we needed to create a brands image. We looked in the group to see what we was all wearing, as we will have to be the models and what we are wearing will determine the brand. Sinead Jordan was wearing a faux fur coat and whats going on with the industry now about animal rights related to fur, it felt like a perfect place to start for us. Thats how we created a brand around faux fur. Thinking of a name, I came up with Furno as it stands for no fur but the other way around. We decided we wanting to be bold and for powerful females who stand for ethical and sustainable rights. A mood board was made by Katie Hopkins to showcase to you what the brand is all about. From the branding, we went on to shoot the video. I took the camera and took location shots as I felt like capturing the surroundings is just as important as the person in the garments. I tried to do different shots such as zooming in and out, out of focus going in focus, 360 and more. I am quite proud with how they turned out as I think they create more depth for the film overall. Whilst the others shot on the gimbal to get model and product shots. We decided to go to a rather modern and architect inspired area to emphasise on the high quality of the product and in Manchester, Spinningfields was the perfect place to go.

When we go back from shooting, we knew we still had a lot of work to do as we learnt from week 1 that editing takes a lot of time. Me and Enziya Gateley chose which shots to put into the film and started to edit the clips. Where Jessica May and Sinead Jordan found a song, Steppin’ Up Remix by Kkris T An. We all put input into the direction of where the film was going and what to include and where. The overall outcome, was rather successful and I could tell my editing skills had improved from the previous week as I was able to do things faster and learn more advance techniques. I have really enjoyed my two moving image workshops, they have definitely opened up my options. The feedback from tutors were positive and said that it was strong branding with a powerful message throughout. However, I feel like directing the film is where I lie best as I like to consider different scenarios of what works best for the situation.
