WEEK 2
As I'm starting to create my online portfolio, I am noticing more and more of a strong theme throughout and making sure it reflects me as a person. Putting content in like the Misguided video really does help it look stronger and this week I will be putting in the E-Commerce style shoot. I find this really exciting as already just after two weeks I will have covered two completely different aspects into promotion.
The E-Commerce workshop started off by choosing a brand we wanted to shoot for, we chose Urban Renewal by Urban Outfitters as its all about sustainability. We originally chose Urban Outfitters as we felt like our group could suit their style models. We took this into consideration as a big part of the research behind this is the image that Urban Outfitters wants to portray and models have a big part in that. To take it further we wanted to use Urban Renewal so we could play with styling a little more.
After researching into models, poses and hair and beauty we took ourselves into the studio. We all nominated Jessica May to be our model as she has a natural look that suit UO. The next step was styling, looking at the rails of clothes, we began to layer a couple of outfits together. The group worked together to steam the garments and adjust them to fit on Jess. Moving onto the shots, we wanted different angles to show the garment and in the same way as Urban Outfitters. Thats full length, detail shots and side shots, all with a slouchy and casual look. On top of this, we was told to create a product shot on its own. By doing this we put the product onto the mannequin to see the full shape of the product with no distractions. Product shots should just be on their own, so I took myself into the retoucher role by making the garments look like they have shape but nothing else in the picture. I also created a neck from the back of the garment, this was created by taking the garment inside out and backwards on the mannequin.
When finding all our research we used modelling agencies such as Named, Anti an Jadore. Our other images such as the shots and hair and beauty came from either Urban Outfitters themselves or Pinterest. I am happy with how we all contributed with research and shooting. It all came together and definitely suits the collection.
After today, I realised how time consuming retouching is but I still enjoyed it immensely as I got myself into it. I would like to learn how to make these better over time. I also really enjoyed directing the shoot by helping the model with poses and angles for the shots. I am definitely a hands on person and it definitely became clear after today.
