CREATION OF CV
Whilst creating my CV, I want to make sure I portray myself not only correctly but as my best self. I feel like I have a graphical feel to all my work yet very minimal. Thats when I decided I wanted one statement piece on my page, I made that my name. I created a 3D effect where my name is stood out from the rest. I think this works well as it is important to have a CV that is different, to show how I have originality.
For the content, I feel like I have explained my experience well and linked it to the fashion industry as much as possible. I originally wanted to have a testimonial from my manager but after my one to one with Kate (CV specialist) she feels like having a personal statement says a lot more about myself as its what I feel and not what someone thinks. That is when I created my statement ‘I am an exceptionally focused Fashion Promotion student aiming towards a 1st. I specialise in photography, styling and creative direction and I am extremely interested in being successful. I strive to show my best self which I believe is positive, self motivated and dependable. I aim to show these skills in all tasks and therefore, learn and develop more knowledge to intensify my individual performance’. After writing this statement, I then went back to Katie to see what she thinks and she said that it was fabulous and covers a range of skills that employers want to see. She said that I come across in a very articulate way across my whole CV.
With my layout, I really wanted a lime green background as it stood out to me and was another element of being original. However, after I created my website I realised the lime green would not match. I went with a pale pink instead to match my theme and for them to go hand in hand with each other. With my font, I wanted something bold but delicate so I went for Futura condensed which also helped me to fit all the information I needed onto the page. Showing the Icons on the bottom of the page which explain my skills and interests also shows how I am graphical and that I have more of a creative image. I spoke to John and Katie about this and they both loved how it breaks up the page.
Overall, I am very pleased with my CV as when I look at it I feel like it suits me and portrays me in a way I would want employees to see me. I intend to keep building on my CV by adding experience and skills.
