ADDITIONAL SHOOTS

Pigalle Basketball

This shoot was strongly inspired by a trend from WGSN. I wanted to include this in my Nike Look book in Level 4 but unfortunately the location was in Paris and I couldn't get there in time of the deadline. Instead, I decided to do a separate shoot on a film camera as I am extremely inspired by this location. This shoot says a lot about my style, the bold colour and the sporty feel really are two identities of mine and thats why I thought it was so important to include in my portfolio. I enjoy taking photos on film as I believe it gives the images more character and helps tell my story as a photographer more. I didn't just want to take photos of the model as I have learnt over the years, taking photos of the location gives a wider effect to the viewer due to showing them more of the location and bringing them in to the shoot. Although, as it was on film I wish I took more due to some not turning out the way I wanted too. I still was very happy with some images but if I was to go again, I’d retake the ones that went wrong and take more that one of the shot just in case.

CAD

Over my time at University, I feel like I have developed a strong talent on CAD. I am proud of my knowledge I have learnt over the year and felt like I should create a few images to show what I can do. I thought this was an important skill to have as a lot of employers ask about knowledge of CAD. I find myself in the middle of creativity were I enjoy doing everything and want to try new things. So these illustrations are just to show an extra category that I have touched on. I decided to do an array of styles such as modern sport and vintage sport as I am highly interested in sportswear and thought this was a good way to represent that in my work. Having this section on my portfolio is hopefully giving it more depth and experience. I hope to carry on doing illustrations to further my skills.

Designing Emotion Shoot

This shoot is based on a WGSN SS20 trend we found called Designing Emotion . It offers a sense of emotion and human connection which inspires the colour palette to be a feel good combination of colour . The styling is all about feeling unique and doing the unexpected yet we decided to focus most on the colour palette due to us all wanting to put our own edge on the trend. The shoot went really well at the local bar Yes! We hired out the pink room which as you can tell from the shoot, covered in pink paint. We chose this location as this colour was in the colour palette of the trend and it gives us more space to be creative and a stronger focus on styling and poses.  I was the model for this shoot as the group decided out of us all, my look suits the trend the most as I have quite a minimal/ contemporary look. I helped to style the outfits and helped with camera control as I feel like my knowledge on camera is good. After the shoot, I edited a few images and Liv Motley did others. I didn't want to touch them them much as the colours looked really good already, i just retouched myself e.g smoothing out skin and removing wispy strands of hair to make the images look more professional. I really like the outcome of this shoot as the collection we have are all different but each one is rather strong. It is a good addition to my portfolio as is shows I can read future trends and act upon them. If I was to make the shoot any better, I would of played around with lighting of the room more as I thought the room had interesting lighting coming out of one window. I feel like I would do that next time if I had more power over the camera.

Urban Vintage

This photoshoot was inspired by the northern football culture, taking in the urban and everyday life of a hooligan . To extend further, this shoot was to resemble the football like from the 90's/ early 00's. To do that, I styled the looks with vintage clothing and shot on a film camera (Olympus MJU II). I have done a number of film shoots to show further my style, film helps capture that more than digital as I have a very vintage eye. During this shoot, I used a model who helps portray that too with his middle parting and intimidating look it shows the vibe of a hooligan. He let me choose clothing from his wardrobe, I tried to create a mix of vintage sport and modern day to bring it back to life and relevant for the now. My location was in Fallowfield. A run down student town. In the streets of these people it catches the urban vibe of the 90’s hooligan and how he would be caught looking day to day. I was very pleased with how this came out as the colours really come out nicely on this film and add to the effect.

Code Create

Code Create is a mixture of science, technology and nature . This project was worked on as a group (the roles are displayed above the gallery) . This trend attracted us to recreate as we found it was the millennial approach to a smart look. It features tailoring, grunge and bold accessories . As I shot half of this shoot where Katie Hopkins shot the other, I tried to get as many poses in that had a bold look. These being a straight forward look, enhancing the shoulders and minimising the wait by her hands, using the blazer as a prop which gives a sassy approach and the confident facial expressions. After looking and editing these shots and comparing towards the trend we definitely did this well as its all about bending the rules of smart suits and colours. Missing garments such as the no top underneath the blazer shows originality into to everyday suit. If I was to improve anything, I would make sure we took more shots that are natural so then they don't look too forced.

Empower Up

Empower Up, a spring summer 2020 collection created by WGSN . Me and my group decided to create a studio shoot doing our own take on this trend . The trend consisted of a few ways to style but I feel like we focused on one in particular, ' The Games' . This is all about where sportswear gets a new lease of life as its tied in with everyday wear. We focused on this in particular as the collection of garments we had combined together suited this the best. As this was a studio shoot, we decided to use a green backdrop. I definitely feel like this enhances the sport look as people relate green to football pitches, tennis courts and golf greens. It also bring originality instead of the standard white backdrop. I took it upon myself to be a model on the day as that wasn't the original plan. One of the models dropped out and no one else wanted to model, I would of preferred to be more hands on with shoot but I took it on myself to help the team. I still tried to get involved as much as possible by doing different poses that I thought would suit the shoot and also telling the volunteer model what to do. After the shoot, I picked which photos I preferred and edited them the enhance the colour and lighting to make the the images even bolder. As mentioned, I would of rather been more involved with the direction of the shoot but feel like my part was very substantial as I also styled most of the outfits as a lot of the clothing was mine.
